Melange Reloaded: Orishas Fantasies & Folktales
A Solo-Exhibition by Lieutenant Commander John W.F Walcott

Melange Reloaded: Orisha Fantasies and Folktales is a Solo-Exhibition by Barbadian artist Lieutenant Commander John Walcott. The exhibition opened on April 25th, 2026, at the Queen’s Park Gallery in Bridgetown, Barbados, attended by the Most Honourable Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, President of Barbados.
The exhibition features works from 1999 to the present, with the majority of pieces created between 2022 and 2026. The works (all paintings) focus on tales of the Orisha and local/regional folklore, with a few exceptions highlighting Barbadian culture and scenery.
Emerging during a period when many regional artists are considering the place of the Caribbean within the wider art world, Melange Reloaded is an ambitious, timely, and culturally complex collection.
The exhibition is a vast compilation of vibrant and thought-provoking pieces. Each one invites viewers to revisit tales of the past and consider the spiritual, not only within these stories but in everyday life.
